Skills Federation, previously known as the Federation for Industry Sector Skills and Standards, has announced its new name to better reflect its evolving focus as the voice of employer-led sector skills bodies.

Since stepping into the role of CEO last September, Fiona Aldridge has engaged extensively with members and stakeholders across the skills sector to understand the challenges facing industries and explore opportunities. The name change highlights the charity’s ongoing commitment to working collaboratively with its 18 sector skills body members to shape the future of skills policy as well as providing the tools and support needed to deliver sector skills needs.

Fiona commented: “Working closely with our members and partners we want to shape a skills system that drives economic growth, supports innovation and prepares individuals for rewarding careers.”

A new website has been launched at www.skillsfederation.org to provide further information about the work of the organisation. The charity has also introduced a refreshed brand identity, including a new logo and brand guidelines to reflect this exciting new chapter.

To accompany the launch, an article in FE News by CEO Fiona Aldridge set out why the year ahead is pivotal for skills development in the UK. In it she sets out the critical role that skills development will play in driving long-term economic prosperity across the UK – and the vital role of sector skills bodies in contributing to progress.
